My Favorite Image Editors

A few days ago, I posted about social media image sizes for 2016. After reading that post, some of you may be saying, “That’s great, but just how do I make my images the correct sizes for all of those social media platforms?” Fear not, I have my top three image editor suggestions for you.

Image Editors

My go-to for social media image sizing, is Canva. For me, I find Canva to be very straightforward (and free!) and I love using some of their free templates when I’m in a time crunch (as in this Facebook post). Initially, Canva may seem overwhelming because there are so many choices. However, if you click one of the popular choices under Create a Design at the top of the page or click the more button (a square box with a + in it), then you get all kinds of social media choices pre-sized for you (always a good idea to double check those sizes, though). You can also edit the image in a custom size by clicking “use custom dimensions” in the upper right corner. I like Canva for social media because I can easily add text to an image (call to action is very important!) or combine two images.

While I use it more for personal photos, PicMonkey also works well for social media images and is super simple to use (and free!). Just click edit at the top of the page, import your photo, and then scroll down to resize and put in the dimensions that you need.

Not free but definitely one of the best when it comes to image editing, is the granddaddy of them all, Adobe Photoshop. While I cannot claim to know how to use even half of the bells and whistles that Photoshop offers, it is great software to have to really edit your images properly (price varies).
